MEET TODAY’S GUEST

Justin Goehring

Justin grew up in the Pittsburgh area (a proud 1997 Mars graduate) and was deeply influenced by his grandfather, Ralph Goehring, who served as a military policeman in France during World War II. Those stories of service, pride, and character eventually inspired the brand. Bazooka Charlie’s pays tribute to Lt. Col. Charles “Bazooka Charlie” Carpenter while honoring Justin’s family legacy.

“Bazooka Charlie’s is a tip-of-the-hat to the World War II era, paying tribute to Lt. Col. Charles ‘Bazooka Charlie’ Carpenter while also honoring my grandfather’s service. The concept blends a deep respect for history with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.”

THE INTERVIEW

What Makes Bazooka Charlie’s Stand Out

After building the concept in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and navigating challenges like the COVID shutdown, Justin brought the vision home to Pittsburgh. The Cranberry Township location opened earlier this year, following the Allison Park shop that launched in December 2025.

Bazooka Charlie’s blends respect for WWII-era history with a modern, high-quality barbershop experience. From the comfortable chairs to the quality tools and complimentary drink during every visit, everything is designed for comfort and convenience.

The shop offers flexible options — you can book ahead online or by phone to secure your preferred time and skip the wait, or simply call or walk in. Their membership options (twice-a-month or unlimited) are also very popular, giving guys consistency and better value.

What really sets them apart is the elevated yet affordable experience combined with that flexibility. “Our membership offering allows a client to enjoy an elevated level of experience for sometimes less than the competition,” Justin shared.

Community Response

Since opening in Cranberry Township, the local response has been strong. “It’s been great to see people come in, try us out, and continue coming back,” Justin said. “Building those early relationships has been one of the most rewarding parts of launching here.”

Favorite Part of Running Bazooka Charlie’s

For Justin, it’s the challenge and joy of brand-building — paying attention to every small detail (from the custom music to the beverages and retail products) and seeing how those touches shape the overall experience. He also loves being part of important moments in people’s lives, whether it’s a back-to-school cut, a wedding, or another milestone.

Looking Ahead

Bazooka Charlie’s is focused on growing their team (aiming for 12–15 barbers by the end of the year) and planning a big grand opening event this summer ahead of back-to-school season. Their memberships remain a major emphasis because they offer real value and consistency.

Their tagline says it all:

“Unapologetically American.”
